Can you take hair straighteners in hand luggage on a plane like Easyjet, Flybe, Jet2, Ryanair?

We get this question all the time, so let's start with saying...

Q: Can you take hair straighteners in hand luggage on a plane like Easyjet, Flybe, Jet2, Ryanair?

A: YES YOU CAN!

You can take hair straighteners in hand luggage on all airlines such Easyjet, Flybe, Ryanair, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Jet2, Thomas Cook. If these hair straighteners are REALLY strange (example, gas powered) then the answer is a huge NO as they contain a type of fuel.

One thing to look out for is that your hair straighteners are compatible with the voltage, because if they are not they might not even heat up! Brands such as GHD, Cloud Nine (Cloud 9), BaByliss, Nicky Clarke and Remington should all be fine but please check with your instructions if they support dual voltage or worldwide / universal voltage.

Also, don't be surprised if you get taken to one side at security with your bag for a quick security check. Large electrical items such as hair straighteners always ping on the metal detectors.
